What's the cheapest way to travel from London to Liverpool and to return back on the same day?

I going to watch a football match in Liverpool on 12 of September and I need to travel to Liverpool by train from London because I can't drive because I am 16 of fly because it Is expensive. Could you please post links to websites were they have cheap fares.
