You always see those digital signs that estimate the travel time to different nearby destinations. What do they use estimate that?|||They divide the distance by the average speed of vehicles, determined by a radar. Then they multiply a coefficient that takes in weather and traffic conditions, with the lowest coefficient being 1. If there is a lot of traffic or rain, the coefficient can be around 1.5 or more. So a trip that takes 30 min in good weather may take 45 if there is a lot of traffic or rain.
Hope this helps!|||Distance divided by the average speed of the vehicles.....?
It's not rocket science....more like 5th grade math.|||The signs are run by a computer that monitors the speed of the traffic ahead. Then, it's just a mathematical calculation of distance and speed.
